I completely understand that there are times when you would just like to scream something at them. Maybe even reach out and try and slap some sense into them, Trust me, you do not want to do that!! You want to learn that there is a much more professional way to handle them.

This answer can vary depending on who you ask. In my personal opinion most of the time it nothing to do with you but their mindset. Sometimes you can help them with a little mindset shift, and other times you will not be able to. Do not take it personal.
The first thing you need to realize that if you are to help them with a little mindset shift, you must first understand why the person is being negative in the first place and if it could really be more related to the way YOU approached them.
Consider this, if you are getting negativity from your prospects, take the time to look at the situation and specifically ask yourself if there is anything you did or said to the prospect to cause the prospect to be negative.
As crazy as this may sound to you, take a time-out and ask yourself, “Was I presenting to the prospect in a salesy way?” or “Do I have my prospects best interest at heart?” “Was I coming across in a negative manner?” “Was I being respectful to my prospects needs and time?”
You may find your answer in your approach which with a simple tweek can make your process a lot more successful.
Now sometimes it is not us at all, it has nothing what so ever to do with how we approached them and there is absolutely nothing that we could of done any differently. The prospects mindset was in a negative place.
The one thing that your negative prospect will be expecting from you is a negative reaction. What ever you do don’t give it to them. You may feel that you are justified in responding negatively. Please make sure that you are standing out professionally and not stooping to their level. You will look far more professional. You can easily use a take away and make them think about how they reacted to you.
By using the take away you are diffusing the negative situation and remaining professional. This will set you apart and on a higher level. You have postured up! By doing so you have also given our industry as well as your brand a good name.
If you have ever heard the term Attraction Marketing this can definitely be a form of that. By that I mean you are showing the negative prospect that you are not Needy of their business. Most people will be more attracted to you simply because they see you are not needy.
The fact is none of us enjoy dealing with negative people. It is something that in our business we unfortunately must deal with at times. Look at it as a growing experience that will make you stronger.
