One of the biggest mistakes network marketers make is how they handle the Non-Answering prospects when they follow up with them. 1.) We all get the prospects that never answer the phone when we call. The biggest thing you need to learn from this post is YOU DO NOT NEED EVERYONE!! It is far more important to learn some key points here. These will help you grow your business far faster, and it will be far more stable.
If you received messages like the following examples: “Hello Ms XYZ wanted to call and set up an appointment with you so I can show you some interesting information.” Or- “Hello Ms XYZ not sure you got my last message, really have some exciting information I want to share with you.”
If I received messages like this I would be feeling like this doctor was desperate for patients and something must be wrong. Well this is the same way your prospects are going to feel. You want to come from a place of abundance not need.
Learn to disqualify prospects quickly. Way to often when a network marketer gets a lead, they spend way to much time trying to recruit that one lead. If the lead pushes you around, or avoids your calls, or messages, then disqualify them. If you have to chase someone to get them to join then you are going to have to chase them to get them to build their business. You will not have time for that as your business grows. I personally do not even want them on my team.
One of the first things you definitely want to always remember to do when prospecting is find out if the person is open. So many network marketers are trying to close someone way before they even know if the person is open to your opportunity or product.
Learn to say less to more people and you will find network marketing success a lot faster. It is key to learn this concept. The more people you talk to then the better your success rate will go up. When someone is giving you the run around, what I tell them is. “Look it is apparent this is not a fit for you, so I will just remove you from the list.”
Whether someone knows what list you are referring to or not, you will be pleasantly surprised at the reactions you will get. What I have found is people do not like to be removed from the list. I have literally had prospects have a complete reversal and honestly look at and join my opportunity. Why? Because I am coming from a place of abundance, and I have posture.
Voice Mail Follow-Up
When you have a prospect that you contact by phone, you ALWAYS want to make sure and set the time with your prospect. Even when you do this correctly do not be surprised if they do not answer.
It is really important that you think like a professional. If you contact the best accountant in town to do your taxes, they will not just tell you to call them at your convenience. They are very busy, and they are not just going to jump on the phone with you anytime. Professionals schedule their time, and so should you. Even if you are not extremely busy, you want to come across like you are.
I personally use what I refer to as a 3 voicemail system which I learned from my coach Ray Higdon.
First voicemail – Hey Judy we had a call scheduled for 2:00PM today and by my watch it is 2PM, give me a call when you get a chance.
Do not say anything else!!!
Second voicemail- Hey Judy haven’t heard from you hope everything is ok, by the way if what we were going to talk about is not for you just let me know it is ok, and we will save each other a lot of time, hope everything is ok, give me a call.
The second voicemail should be left 24 hours after the first voicemail.
Third and final voicemail- Hey Judy, left you a couple of voicemails and haven’t heard anything from you. It appears that this is not for you so I am just going to mark you off my list. You will not be hearing from me again concerning this. I hope you the very best that life has to offer. Have a great day.
Your third voicemail should occur 48 hours after your second voicemail. This voicemail you are really posturing up. You are showing that you do not need them and you are willing to let them go. This is the voicemail that will get them to call you back.
In order to be really successful in network marketing it is imperative that you build your skills. Your network marketing business is really no different than any other profession. If you want to be successful in any field you must develop and improve your skills. The better you become at any skill the more valuable you become, and your income increases.
