The sad truth is many network marketers have failed not because of a lack of leads but because they have been too lazy to follow up with their leads. They make many excuses and reasons why they fail to follow up. One reason that many marketers do not follow up is out of fear of rejection, or they have been rejected and they just can not seem to get over that feeling. Statics show that 79% of leads never even receive one follow-up. This speaks volumes as to why so many fail in network marketing. From hope is that you take this information and make sure that you implement a follow-up plan with all your leads.
I was at a mastermind event last year and one of the speakers we had there was discussing this very subject. After much research of the market over many years, he said that it takes between 5 to 12 follow ups to make the sale. Something he told us and I keep this as one of the little notes I look at daily is “The fortune is in the follow-up.”

There is a possibility that you have been rejected many times because when you are making your calls you had a lack of power or conviction. More often than not you failed to convince yourself not your leads that you were presenting to that your opportunity will make a big difference in their life. You still do not have the conviction within you of how powerful and how big of a change your opportunity can make in your life and other peoples as well.
Learning How To Follow UP With Your Leads In Network Marketing The Right Way
The unfortunate fact is in today’s network marketing arena the majority of network marketers are untrained. They simply do not have the training needed when approaching leads. If you are guilty of this, then this simple tip will help you at least to follow up with your network marketing leads the right way.
When making a follow-up, do what is referred to as the “disarming update approach”. Now, what is the disarming update approach? It is not doing the same thing you have always done in the past. It is not approaching your lead the same way that most other network marketers do. A disarming approach is a way that will loosen up your prospect or better yet will make them take off their guard.
The truth is most of your prospects have been prospects to many other network marketers before and they already know what your next steps, your next words are going to be and honestly they are tired of it. Your job is to prove them wrong. When you call them DO NOT pitch them. You want to say the words they are least expecting from you. It is like attacking by taking one step backward to move two steps forward.
A really good example of disarming update approach is to call your leads and start with ” Hey, remember the last time we spoke and I told you about that business opportunity I am a part of?” The prospect will reply “yeah?” and they are now anticipating that you are going to pitch them again, but this time you disappoint them by saying, ” I thought about it and I realize that you might not be ready for it yet but I wanted to tell you that we are having an event tomorrow evening, and I was wondering who do you know that you think might want to earn and extra income? I would love to invite them to this event.” See you are disarming your lead by not pressuring them or even encouraging them but you are giving them an update about what you are going to have that just might interest you lead and they will tell themselves “WHY NOT ME?”.
Now how you decide to disarm your network marketing leads is up to you. What is important is that you learn to approach it the right way and that you make the decision to follow-up with your leads. It will not be perfect at first, but let your personality shine through, and you will find that the more of your leads you follow up with the better you will get at following up. Remember the fortune is in the follow-up.
